Our adaptive immune system uses reinforcement learning against germs
The adaptive immune system is our body’s second line of defense. The soldiers are classified either as T cells or B cells. T-cells are responsible for detecting the foreign pathogen and creating a response against them. Previously, the biology of T cells has been widely studies but detection and training mechanism was unknown until now. Here came the role of Artificial Intelligence in health sector. The researchers utilized an artificial intelligence framework to identify that T helper cells work like a hidden layer between input and output in neural networks. This approach is used in adaptive learning. Pathogens/antigens are input in this scenario and effector immune cells are the output. The team used simulation to know the proposed mechanism of T cells. Results revealed were following the experimental data of the sequence of T cells genes and proteins. Read More
