IBM Simulates The Human Brain Up To 4.5 Percent
IBM simulates the human brain using Blue Gene supercomputer. The human brain is a huge network of neurons and synapses at their edges. The human brain has 20 billion neurons with more than 200 trillion synapses. To simulate the whole human brain, huge computational power is required. In other animal models, 512 processors were required to simulate the mouse brain, 20148 for rats, 24576 for cats. It was estimated that to simulate the human brain, up to 800,000 processors would be required. Each processor was merely equivalent to a normal PC processor. Read more
