Corrections and feedback
This timeline was rebuilt by checking every entry against primary sources, and that process found 976 factual errors in the previous version. Some will remain. If you have found one, please say so.
What happens to a correction
Every report is checked against primary sources before anything changes. If the correction holds, the entry is amended and a dated note is added recording what was wrong. Corrections are made in public rather than quietly, because a reference work that hides its errors is harder to trust than one that lists them.
Suggestions for milestones we have missed are equally welcome, particularly outside English-language sources and outside the United States, where the coverage here is thinnest.
